An Ode to my Late Grandmother

When I was little, my mother explained to me the circle of life. My innocence, at the time, hindered me from fully understanding her as she calmly stated, "when a baby is born, sometimes the elders in the family go to glory to exchange a life for a life". This explanation quenched my thirst of wonder where my grandma Lena was, but though she may not be physically with me, I met her as I wrote her this:
Lena Mae, oh Lena Mae
You brought me new life on this day.
You gave up yours, and sought I would be born
I feel though as if I met you sweet Lena Mae.
In heaven when you held me tightly in your loving arms
I asked why must we part, and you responded so beautiful and prideful “ oh my sweet baby,
Sweetest one I ever knew, from my death, new love must bloom"
Till this day I wept tears for you, my Lena Mae
Because it took some time for me to see a bud of your love appear.
It took years for me to put together the pieces of dear ole Lena Mae.
But here I am writing this ode to you.
Lena Mae
My dear Lena Mae
Most beloved of my past.
When the day comes for us to meet at last, oh how I cant wait to hug my sweet Lena Mae
